Native advertising is a kind of advertising, usually on the internet but possibly elsewhere, that suits the form and function of the platform upon which it seems like. Most of the time, it manifests as either an article or video, created by an advertiser with the specific intent to advertise a product, while matching the form and elegance which may otherwise be seen in the work of the platform’s editorial staff. Native advertising platforms are classified into two classes, typically called “open” and “closed” platforms, Closed platforms are formats created by brands for the function of promoting their own content intrinsically on their websites and the second ‘Open’ platforms are based on the promotion of the same piece of branded content across multiple platforms.
